Nouvelle cuisine américaine
$$$
“This is hands-down one of the top handful of restaurants in the city. I'm a writer and I've written about this place and its chef/owner, Bryce Gilmore, in publications from local to The Telegraph newspaper out of London! It's an absolute favorite of Austinites, and if you're a foodie you absolutely will not be disappointed by a meal here. Highly, highly recommended.”

Dive Bar
$
“Classic Austin mainstay. For years, it was owned by the same people who kept it adorned in Christmas decor - with various theories regarding its origin. Some say it was because the owner's son left for war during Christmas and never came back. Some say it's simply good marketing. It has recently taken new ownership but its halls are still decked with boughs of holly, and now there's a Stubb's food truck outside.”

BBQ Joint
$
“Mysteriously under the radar BBQ spot with a full bar. Their herbed pork ribs are some of the best I've had here, in my opinion, and the other stuff isn't too shabby either. Sides are tweaked by the chef, not straightforward, and slightly "fancy." Whiskey of the month is $5 at all times and $3 during happy hour. Tons of whiskey, full bar, incredible old building, beautiful bar, and decent outdoor area. They run out of BBQ towards the end of the night. Parking is really tough, so this would be a great one to Lyft to...and take advantage of that special whiskey. ”
