Enjoy the true outdoors with an easy 3/4 - 1 mile private nature hike hosted by a pack of loose, well trained German Shepherd Dogs. The hike starts at our farm in coastal Maine and wanders through a network of trails winding through a natural wild Maine forest. You will be hiking with a large pack of (5 to 12) loose german shepherd dogs of various ages who will want attention along the way! On the walk there are soft forest trails, sometimes mud puddles and slippery footing. Throughout our adventure you will learn tips on hiking with a pack of German Shepherds the way they communicate and what their body language means. Once we return there will be bathroom facilities, snacks and beverages. We will also talk about how we raise and imprint our young shepherds and prepare them as family companions. Your hosts for the nature walk will be either Jennifer, Katie, or both! We began offering pack walks at our open house for our German Shepherd Breeding program, and because of the enthusiasm and popularity, we decided to host this event through Airbnb. Your blacksmithing adventure will include three hours of hands on instruction as you create your very own masterpiece. Your experience will start with a brief orientation to The Forge at Quiver Full Farm. During this orientation time we will make sure each participant is dressed and prepared with all necessary equipment to have a SAFE forging experience. We will be working with equipment that reach temperatures greater than 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. This experience requires participants to be attentive and be able to physically exert themselves. We will have all participants sign a safety liability waiver before starting. If you are under 18 years of age you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to participate. Jeremy will introduce you to all of the equipment that you will be using while creating your forged piece. He will give detailed and guided instruction on how to use these tools. From there you will choose one of several projects to create. Jeremy will be there to guide you, assist you, and maintain a safe working environment while you create your masterpiece. Other things to note This experience is for adults and children over the age of 14. If you have sensitivities to smoke and heat this may not be the experience for you.

We're going to explore one of the true hidden wonders of Washington, D.C., a Civil War fort nestled deep in Rock Creek Park. In July, 1864, a Confederate Army attempted a surprise invasion of Washington, D.C., hoping to sow panic and drive Congress and President Lincoln from the Capitol. Confederate forces swept into the city, and fought a desperate battle among the northern defenses of Washington. President Lincoln rode over to the see the fighting, the only time in American history a president has been under enemy fire. Eventually Union forces repelled the attack, and Washington was saved. It’s considered one of the greatest what-ifs in American history: Had the Union lost the battle, most historians believe there would have been a negotiated settlement to the war, and a durable Confederate nation. We’re going to visit Fort DeRussy, one of the forts that drove back the Confederate attack, and learn the full story of how the Civil War came to Washington. Abandoned after the war and overgrown, Fort DeRussy was practically lost to history. Today, it’s virtually unknown: I grew up blocks away and didn't even know it was there. It's an astonishing, beautiful ruin in a peaceful forest grove. Other things to note Please check the weather in advance and dress accordingly. Every menu is created the morning of the dining experience. Moreover for the curious of hearts, I would be cooking and baking dishes, giving you a true peek into the world of fine dining in top kitchens. All this is in a day/evening's worth of time spent leisurely drinking and eating delicious meal in great company and hopefully the best story to tell in the forseeable future. Turkish coffee fortune reading is an authentic tradition dating back to Ottoman Empire in the 1600s. The leftover coffee grinds that remain in one's cup are believed to reveal their future. In this vibrant experience hosted by Dr. Honeybrew, your coffee grinds are projected onto a giant monitor allowing for all of the symbols to be witnessed and analyzed right before your eyes! You will leave knowing both your future & how Turkish coffee fortune reading is conducted. Decaf options are available for those who are caffeine sensitive. Using real sterling silver, tiny saws, hammers, and fire, you'll create your very own ring. I'll teach you how to measure, cut, solder, bend, file, and polish your custom creation. You can also texturize or letter stamp it to make it truly one of a kind. You'll leave wearing your new ring with a sense of great accomplishment and the perfect souvenir. It is said that bees enjoy a secret life, but there is a fascinating story behind that life that should be made available for all to witness! Join us for a "Bee incredible" journey, as we explore the work of Apiarists (Beekeepers). You will be guided on a 1.5 to 2 hour tour (depending on the size of the group) encompassing the miraculous work of bees. Bees undertake the extraordinary important job of helping to mature and grow many of the plants we enjoy and providing a food source - honey - that is globally consumed and universally loved. If you're feeling exceptionally brave, you can don a full protective gear and open a bee hive for a closer look into the habitat of bees, the Brood Box (nest). Observe the Queen bee laying eggs, while learning about the unique roles and responsibilities of drone and worker bees. You'll be able to taste the honeycomb (if available) and sample sweet honey from the source; which has been used for centuries for its naturopathic or medicinal purposes. This tasty, unique and exceptionally enlightening experience in beekeeping is a can't miss opportunity for nature enthusiasts and is appropriate and entertaining for all guests ages 8 and up. With guided, professional instruction, you'll have a fun and creative time making an item out of clay on a pottery wheel. I will show you how to work with the clay, get it ready for the wheel, center it, and eventually start shaping. Usually students can make either a small bowl, plate, mug or vase on their first try. You will get up to 30 minutes of time on the wheel which is plenty to create one item, and then you can add accents to your piece i.e. handle and you'll get to handbuild for the remainder of the time (add accents to your piece). You can take the pottery home with you the same day you make them, or—if you'd like—I can fire your work, glaze it, and ship it to you for a small fee. This is a fully home-style experience where my guests will learn how to make a crispy dosa (Indian rice crepe) stuffed with masala and also get immersed in the aroma of a spiced milk chai (tea) loaded with local spices from my homeland. My guests will also learn how to make delicious coconut chutney and the recipes for all the dishes will be shared with them. Guests will also be served with sambar (lentil soup) with the dosa. The spice level will be adjusted based on the guests' preference. To many, the world of Hasidic Jews is shrouded in mystery and secrecy—well, not anymore. On this experience, you get to see first hand the daily lives, rituals, and customs of the Hasidic community, guided by a member of the community and being able to access places seemingly closed off and hidden to the outsider. An opportunity to be able to ask any questions about the Jewish faith, culture, and philosophy. We kick off the experience inside a Hasidic home, and learning about what it takes to keep a Kosher home. Then its off to the streets of Crown Heights, starting with exploring the world famous “770” Synagogue, getting a glimpse into the hustle and bustle of daily prayer services. Next stop is a Jewish scribe, seeing up close the intricate details involved in producing the Torah Scrolls. Followed by a walk down the avenue, visiting the local shops, and seeing the traditions dating back to the early 1800’s. This session will comprise of how to inspect a beehive, how to properly use beekeeping equipment , and how to spot your queen Bee! Looking for a fun outdoor activity for the family? Need to de-stress from the craziness of life? Cuddling with animals offers the opportunity to relax your mind and let go of the stress and anxiety for brief period. Not to mention, it's just FUN! During your visit, you will have one hour to cuddle and pet the animals on our micro-farm. Being that this is an outdoor experience, we are really not set up to do cuddle sessions during inclement weather. If we are expecting bad weather for your booked hour, I'm happy to work with you on re-scheduling for a nicer day or time. We currently have lots of Nigerian Dwarf goats of varying ages, a 2.5 year-old miniature Zebu named Molly, a rescue steer named Ferdinand, and two pigs named Charlie and Ellie. We also have numerous chickens, as well as our Holland Lop bunnies Oliver and Willow. ** For the health and safety of both our animals and yours, we do not allow outside animals to visit the farm. ** **We do not have a public bathroom on-site, since this is our home. Traditional art classes can be intimidating. This laid-back atmosphere is perfect for anyone looking to try out their painting skills. Plus, everything is better with GOATS! A brief introduction of the residents and tour of the sanctuary is followed by setting up materials and getting creative. With an approach of “art as therapy”, we can be as instructive or inspiring as each guest needs. We provide the professional art materials, easels, smocks complimentary beverages and the super cute, affectionate goats! You can either bring your masterpiece home or donate it to the sanctuary to help them raise funds. Many places we visit are hole in the wall, hidden gems that aren't easily noticed if you were to walk through the neighborhood on your own. These are places that we frequent and where we eat often and want to share them with you! We'll also share more information about the neighborhood, vendors and cuisines so you can learn more along with getting a great meal. Often, the vendors will change by day, so each tour may be unique. Our journey may take you from Tibet to Mexico and more in between. You will have the opportunity to learn more about New York City from a native's perspective. Itineraries can be tweaked for dietary restrictions. In this tour you will learn about the farm, visit an old spring house, play with mini donkeys, feed Kent sheep and pet and feed Mini Highland cows. Note: You will not go into the pasture with the cows, but you will get to pet and feed them through the fence. You will have an opportunity to go in the pastures with the Mini donkeys and Kent sheep. Cows, donkeys and sheep are very friendly and will enjoy giving you licks, eating out of your hand. Some guests like to set chairs up and just be in the pasture with the donkeys and sheep (while we are present guiding the experience). Our outdoor workshop takes place during a rejuvenating 4 hour nature hike on the trails of a 100,000 acre conservatory gem with flora ranging from old-growth forest to seasonal food plants. We will uncover new worlds of uncultivable, wild edible & medicinal plants in their natural forest state. We seek a multitude of delicious edibles (when in season) such as Yellow Chanterelles, Black Trumpet and Cinnabar Chanterelles, Hedgehogs, Boletes, Oysters and my personal favorite - Lobster Mushrooms. Growth is weather and seasonal dependent. You will learn to identify these and other seasonal edibles such as specific growth edible mushrooms, and will be introduced to spore printing. For edible and medicinal plants we will talk about identification, herbal actions , processes and recipes that will stock your natural medicine cabinet or infuse your foods with delicious flavors. In the spirit of respect for the bio-system we will explore, you will be introduced to ethical harvesting, long term sustainability and propagation for future generations.
