Historic Site
“Hardwick Hall, in Derbyshire, is an architecturally significant Elizabethan country house in England, a leading example of the Elizabethan prodigy house. It was the formidable 'Bess of Hardwick' who first created Hardwick in the 1500s. In the centuries since then her descendants, farmers, gardeners, builders, decorators, embroiderers and craftsmen of all kinds have contributed and made Hardwick their creation. The Hardwick Estate is open every day, for countryside walks with picturesque views, woodland family play trails, locally sourced gifts in the shop and delicious seasonal menus in the restaurant.”

“Woolaton Hall and Park are Nottingham's number 1 attraction especially during the refurbishment of Nottingham castle. The park is home to a boating lake, deer, and coppices. There is a golf course that is quite challenging. The Hall was also used as Bruce manor for the filming of the Batman trilogy.”

“Sheffield's Botanical Gardens are lovely in summer, can drive or get the bus there - you must pay for parking on the street however. There is a grand indoor temperate house with various tropical and succulent plants inside - year round. The grounds are meticulously up-kept - great for picnics or a stop off before going into town. There is also an old bear pit inside the park strangely enough which is worth a visit. Located in the leafy, affluent area near bustling Ecclesal Road which is also perfect for drinks and food. ”
