Musées d'art

Musée d'art
“It's a very nice museum that was built by the Baron Revoltella, a very generous patron of the city's cultural life. There is the formerly private palace with all the representative rooms to see and also the modern part with an art collection. In summer there is also a rooftop terrace café with amazing views over the city and the Gulf of Trieste”

Museo vicino a piazza Unità D'Italia, gratuito. Colleziona oggetti e manufatti orientali.

“The magnificent castle of Emperor Maximilan is one of the major sights. It used to be an Imperial residence until the end of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and the furniture is still original. The park surrounding the castle used to be one of the most magnificent parks, it is not in the best conditions, now, but still nice for a stroll around and the entrance to the park is free. The view from the castle and also the park is really great. In summer you can go there even by boat and the view from the sea is one of my personal highlights.”

“Get an insight into the life of herdsmen in the Bohinj’s pastures in an authentic environment displaying artefacts, photos and other material. The Museum of Alpine Dairy Farming presents the story of herding and alpine dairy farming in Bohinj as a way of life and coexistence with nature in an alpine environment. This museum in Stara Fužina is located in a former village cheese making facility. In 1883 a cheese making plant was built in Stara Fužina in Bohinj, where cheese was produced until as late as 1967.”

“Savica Waterfall is located at the far end of Lake Bohinj. It is considered to be the most famous and the most scenic waterfall in Slovenia. Some might say it is too touristy and crowded, but hey, there is a reason a place is too touristy and that reason is because the place is so breathtakingly gorgeous. Why shouldn’t as many people as possible visit and enjoy it?”

“This pier was built on the remains of the ship San Carlo that sank on this point in 1740, becoming in 1743 the base for the pier called “Molo San Carlo”. At the end of the 1st world war on November 3rd 1918, the destroyer “Audace” came to the city and the pier was renamed. Funnily enough, the 3rd of November was already a holiday in the city that celebrates Saint Justus, patron of the city. Insider tip: Avoid the pier in days of strong bora as it’s very exposed to the wind. Rather go to Eataly and take one of the tables in the far end and enjoy the Bora with a view on the sea. ”
