Musée d'art
“Impressive museum with changing collections on display. The design of the building is dramatic and modern, the collections typically contemporary. Located across the train station in an absolutely beautiful part of the city.”

Scenic Lookout
“The Martinitoren (Martini Tower) is the highest church steeple in the city of Groningen. It is 97meters high and was completed in 1482. You can climb to the top (no elevators) and it gives you an amazing view of the city. Try to find your temporary home - as you can see it from there :-)”

“Get your fresh groceries (cheese, vegetables, fish, meat, nuts) at the local market on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 9.00-17.00 Local tip; if you are going around 16.00 on a Saturday you will be able to get fresh flowers for a bargain. They bundle several bouquets and you can buy them for 5 or 6 euro.”

“The other best bar in Groningen for drinks is surely De Pintelier, which was not only voted best bar of the city but also the second best bar of the Netherlands. It features a wide selection of Belgian beers (I grudgingly admit their superiority) and is absolutely wonderful for atmosphere. Of course, being that famous, it’s often incredibly crowded. If you should go here and it’s full, you’ll be happy to know that the other bars close by are good as well.”

“Cozy place for lunch or drinks in the park. Salads there are tasty and huge. The outdoor seating is amazing both during winter with the fire pit and summer with the natural sunlight.”

“ Informal, a bit loud, but the vibe is fun and the cooking was very well-executed when we were there. They do breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the biggest influence is New Hip American, “small bites”, waffles, burgers, sandwiches, pasta, fondue, none of which sounds exciting but they do try to put a fresh spin on things. Definitely make a reservation. ”

“De Drie Gezusters isn’t the cheapest, it doesn’t provide the best quality drinks in town and the atmosphere can be a little crowded. So why visit? Because with its collection of twenty connected bars and 3750 person capacity, it’s the largest collective bar in Europe featuring beer taps. It can be found dominating the entire southern side of the Grote Markt. Visit it for the experience!”

“This is more of a summertime hangout for us because they have a nice big terrace on a canal, but one day a serious rainstorm appeared out of nowhere and we had to hang out inside for a couple of hours and it was also nice. Above-average food. ”
