“The famous Mendenhall Glacier is a must when visiting Juneau. It's a nice 2 mile walk or bike ride on either a paved bike path or nice gravel trail from Grandma's Suite, Gramdma's Room, Glacier Guest Room, and Gold Nuggett. It's 3 miles from Granite Getaway, and Thunder Mountain Place, 4.5 miles from Shangri-La, 5.5 miles from Harbor Haven and Auke Bay and Suite View. You can visit the glacier on your own, or as part of an Excursion. I recommend The Best of Juneau tour which includes whale watching, the Gold Creek Salmon Bake, and the Mendenhall Glacier. Tourist Information Center
“Go see the most iconic place in SE Alaska and stop in at the visitors center. Forest Service employees can answer your questions and guide you to appropriate trails ranging from easy to experienced hikers only. You can see bears, mountain goats, large granite boulders and best of all the glacier. You do not want to miss this while you are here. ”

“Mt. Robert's Tramway yields breath taking aerial views from about 1800 feet up Mt. Roberts. Take the tram up, and if you're wanting a hike, hike the rest of the way up the mountain (perhaps up to the cross, or up to the peak if you want to go hard.) There's a restaurant up there and a giant gift shop. The views are the big reason to go up!”

“This place has delicious homemade ice creams. The rhubarb sorbet is my favorite made from the owner’s own garden. The ice cream is the stand out here, but for sure you can grab a baked good or a sandwich as well. ”

“The National Shrine of St. Therese is one of Juneau's hidden treasures, 22 miles from downtown Juneau. Walk across a causeway to a simple stone church hidden in the woods on an island with astounding views of Lynn Canal fjord to understand the peace and beauty of this holy place, dedicated to St. Therese of Liseux, the "little flower".”
