“Auckland’s iconic and legendary Olympic Pools and Fitness Centre. With a rich history in New Zealand swimming and fitness, This place has it all and more. The Olympic is one of a kind. A hidden gem amongst the metropolis. Not often in any area of the world do you find yourself down one of the city’s busiest streets and come across a 50m Pool and Gym hiding within the beauty of the cityscape. It has group fitness classes, pools, saunas, steam room, fully equipped gym, spa, on-site café, swim shop, and the most friendly and helpful staff. The Events Cinema Broadway is at the same address. The Rialto Cinemas are further down Broadway. ”

“Parnell is closeby with restaurants and bars. It tends to draw an older clientele as it is tucked away in a mainly residential area and close by the Auckland Museum. We also like to go there in the daytimes to look at antique and art shops, with the occasional stop to have a coffee, lunch or glass of wine.”

“These are lovely to visit on a cold drizzly day - the huge old glass houses are heated, the flowers bring a bit of perfume and cheer, and the fish in the ponds are beautiful. Lots of walking tracks in the Domain and a fernery. These are the Wintergardens mentioned by Tiny Ruins on her Brightly Pained One album (one of my favourite NZ artists). The Pavillion cafe nearby is delicious!”
