Botanical Garden
“This is a fantastic introduction to New Zealand cultural and environmental history. Well worth a visit, for an hour or three! See traditional Maori waka, tools and models of fortified villages, as well as skeletons of the giant Moa, a volcano simulation, and early settler history and artefacts. New Zealand is a unique country with a history worth knowing. ”

Nature
“Walk to and around the rose gardens, in flower Nov-March/April,...or jog there,...and continue down the hill to Judges Bay for a swim at full tide, Dec-March. Carry on up the rise to the oldest, tiniest little wooden Anglican church in Auckland. It is open for service on Sundays 9 am..it has a little old cemetery around it....or simply sit under the big trees and look at the view across to the harbour. Our favourite go to place for a picnic! ”

Grocery or Supermarket
“A fabulous local community market frequented mostly by locals who flock here every Saturday morning from 7:30am. As well as fresh baking and coffee small orchids and farmers come from far and wide to bring there produce to the city - A highlight is the little Macadamia Orchid - there roasted Macadamias are divine. The flower truck is also a highlight.”
