“THIS IS A GREAT BIKING AND WALKING TRAIL! Several years ago, the city spent a good deal of money to convert the old Union Pacific Railroad tracks that went through Whittier into this biking and walking trail. They lined the sides of the trail with beautiful landscapes and landmarks. There are even stations for work outs at various places along the trail so aerobic and anaerobic work outs are free! We are so lucky to have this biking and walking trail. Thank you mayor Joe and the rest of the city council!”

“Pío Pico State Historic Park is the site of Pío Pico Mansion, the final home of Pío de Jesus Pico, the last Governor of Alta California under Mexican rule. Pio Pico bought the Rancho Paso de Bartola, an 8,900-acre Mexican land grant, in 1850. On it he built his home, a chapel, a saloon, and guesthouses. He hosted regular fiestas. The ranch included half of the area that would become Whittier. Pio Pico fell victim to a real estate scam and in 1892 he was evicted from his homestead. He died in poverty.”

“Do you have a dog? They will love this dog park! It is off the Whittier Greenway Trail at Philadelphia Street. There's a separate park for both big and small dogs and a place for the humans to sit!”
