Plaza
“Transportation to the National mall is easiest via Metro (take the Green/Yellow line to the Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter stop) or via Bus (take any of the S buses south toward downtown and ask the driver to recommend the closest stop).”

Science Museum
“By far my favorite museum to visit. Admission to many of the museums in DC are free, which is great to save on the budget. There are also some great sections in this museum where you can interact with the science.”

Museum
“2.3 miles from The Zen Den The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Virginia, is one of the largest comprehensive art museums in the United States. In addition to presenting a wide array of special exhibitions, the museum provides visitors with the opportunity to experience a global collection of art that spans more than 6,000 years. VMFA’s permanent holdings encompass nearly 40,000 artworks, including the largest public collection of Fabergé outside of Russia, the finest collection of Art Nouveau outside of Paris, and one of the nation’s finest collections of American art. VMFA is also home to important collections of Chinese art, English silver, and French Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, British sporting, and modern and contemporary art, as well as renowned South Asian, Himalayan, and African art. In May 2010, VMFA opened its doors to the public after a transformative expansion, the largest in its history. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is the only art museum in the United States open 365 days a year with free general admission.”

Marché

“A trendy food space with lots of options to explore. Options range from gourmet ice cream to a mix of global flavors including Indian, Peruvian, Italian, and many more. Just outside the main market on a side street in the Village Cafe when is my favorite local coffee shop run by native Washingtonians and tucked next door to Politics and Prose Bookstore, a great local Indie bookstore. Tons of other great restaurants around the market too.”

Zoo
“The zoo is a great place to visit and bring the kids if you want. Admission is free, but be forewarned it costs $20 to park there (when there is space) and there are no in/out parking privileges for vehicles. We like to see the pandas. My favorite time of the year is when they have the zoo lit up with Christmas lights. It is also located in one of the older neighborhoods in the city so you can walk by to see some great architecture in the neighborhood.”

Library
“ Not sure why it is being labeled as a library, but getting into the White House is only accessible through tours, which can be registered for online. However, if visitors would like to see the president’s residence from the outside, then it’s an easy walk down Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 15th St. NW and 17th St. NW. There, parties can take pictures with the White House in the backdrop and scream obscenities at, or praises for, Trump through the fence! ”

Capitol Building
“I haven't gotten a chance to take the tour of the US Capitol building but I've been told by everyone who has gone on it that it is awesome and better than the short one you get if you are able to get a tour of the Executive Mansion (The White House). The outside grounds are pretty.”
