Fun center, sales, dining and entertainment Friday at 18-01 Saturday at 10-01 Sunday at 10-18 Lunch Friday. Sale of goods Saturday at 8-18. Sunday at 10-16. Sales can also take place before and after regular sales time. The history of Årjängsmätten Årjängs Marknad is firmly anchored in the village. The timing is based on before and after the market! Before this big autumn event, all boards should be organized. "Årjängsmåten" or "Silbodalsjul" are the alternative local names in this market. Silbodal is the name of the congregation. A long tradition A border trade has almost always existed in these Swedish outlying areas along the national border with Norway. In the past - as well as now - it was a tug of war about which side of the border money would be traded in goods. Årjängs Marknad dates back to the 17th century with two markets a year, a winter market in February and an autumn market in September. It began, as usual, with the livestock market and the sale of groceries. Today's Årjängs Marknad attracts once a year, always the third weekend in September and attracts many visitors with mopeds, fun fair, exhibitions, catering and trotting. Trade and entertainment The earlier character of the horse and livestock market has obviously changed significantly. The type of trade is very large, but the entertainment range balances the overall experience in a perfect way for large and small. Here is a fun fair with a lot of attractions both on the ground and in the air. Song and music are here and there. Disco is offered to those who wish to dance. Something to eat and drink One special phenomenon is the serving of cabbage soup in the market stalls. Troll sausages, small locks, waffles and coffee and more are available in several places. Nordmarken's Tramway Adjacent to the market area is the well-known trotting track where there is always trotting under the market weekend. Adjacent to the trotting track is the Nordic Tram Museum, which is unique in its kind. When is the market? The market is now always in the third weekend of September. It starts on Friday afternoon to reach its culmination on Saturday and focus on families with children during Sunday. Here, happy sellers and happy buyers meet Årjäng's Market can count on approximately 100,000 visitors during a market weekend. To satisfy expectations, 700 seats are offered to sellers of all kinds of goods. Not only the successful seller comes to Årjäng's market. Local companies also book space for, for example, demonstrations of new products. A large part of the municipality's association life utilizes the opportunities for sale of lottery tickets. Total sales are significant. The marketing committee receives a surplus, which is distributed to the associations in exchange for work efforts

Allsköns Musik 9-11 August 2019 Allsköns Musik 2007-2019 The music festival Allsköns Musik has taken root and gained a natural place in our cultural universe. However, because of retirement, we have decided to terminate the arrangement in its present form. Allsköns Musik 2019 will be a "Grande Finale" with a music weekend that is to be forgotten late. So take the opportunity to enjoy Allsköns Musik in the days three, 9-11 August 2019. We will not know what will happen in the future, but we look forward with excitement to a new concept. History Allsköns Musik started in August 2007 after an idea that Culture and Leisure Manager Owe Lindström got on a holiday trip to a small village in France. Can they so well we ... The basic idea was to engage musicians who are related to the "village" and have been educated in our music school or otherwise connected to our municipality. A working group consisting of representatives from the municipality, parishes and associations was convened and started planning. So far... The result has become an incredible music weekend with everything from lovely music school kids to world-renowned artists who all offer high-class music from rock, pop, country and people to musical, classical and gospel music. You can choose from many concerts during the weekend, look in the program. Why not fix an entire event ticket and go around at all! https://www.arjang.se/Documents/Uppleva_gora/Fritid/Webben%20190517.pdf

The locks are buried in the rock and after the locks a rock channel with high edges follows. The lock staircase consists of three locks with a total level difference of 7.5 m. Just above the lock staircase crosses the Dalsland canal by a highway bridge (flap bridge) with 3 m free height. The Lennartsfors lock staircase is the most impressive in Dalsland's canal after Håveruds. The locks are buried in the rock and after the locks a rock channel with high edges follows. The lock staircase consists of three locks with a total level difference of 7.5 meters. Just above the lock staircase, the canal is crossed by a road bridge (flap bridge) with 3 m free height. When you arrive at the upper lock from the north (from the lake Foxen) you enter a long, narrow fairway. The trail is separated from the flowing water down to the power plant by a narrow stone pier. In the water area above the stone pier there is usually strong current supply, especially when the water level is high. Boats coming from the north moor at the waiting bridge. Here is a so-called "call station" with written information on how to contact the lock guard. For boats coming from the south, a green buoy marks the part of the waiting bridge that does not have a depth of 1.8 m. Already in the 16th century there was a water mill here at Ränkforsen. Something that can be called a real society, however, was not until 1839 when Lennartsfors Bruk was founded and the town got its name after the owner Lennart Uggla. The mill manufactured everything from boats to spotty cups and to facilitate the transports to and from Lennartsfors, the lock staircase was built. The mill was abandoned in 1877 and instead a wooden grinding mill was established in Lennartsfors. In 1948, the next industrial era started when Lennartsfors Mekaniska Verkstad, in collaboration with Facit in Åtvidaberg, began to manufacture duplicators and counting spools. The company remains and the business is today focused on small-scale forestry. Smaller sawmills and the so-called Iron Horse belong to the product range. One more thing about Lennartsfors. From here comes the "Sack". We mean of course the ski king Thomas Wassberg.

Gustavsfors lock is a single lock with a height difference of 2.8 m. . Above the lock, the canal is crossed by a fixed bridge with an 11.75 m clearance and a 4.2 m passage width. Gustavsfors Mill was founded in 1747 by Nils and Jöns Koch, brothers and wealthy townsmen from Uddevalla. The mill began its life as an ironworks, but in the early 19th century, the legendary Gustaf Ekman became interested in the company. Ekman, the man behind the development of the iron industry and thereby Sweden’s prosperity, introduced Lancashire hearth iron processing in Gustavsfors. By 1873, however, the mill was transformed into one of the country’s first paper pulp mills, and continued so until just after World War II, when the mill was finally closed down. Today, tourism is the main source of income for Gustavsfors. It is in the summer that this idyllic community springs to life. But now and then, other things happen here, too. Sometimes film-makers drop in. Parts of the Danish-Swedish film Midsommar with Tova Novotny in one of the lead roles was filmed in Gustavsfors to take just one example. If you peek over the long, narrow Lake Lelång, you’ll see Torrskog Church, beautifully situated on a promontory right on the water. And if you stop by the church, you can visit the tree-trunk-shaped gravestone that Selma Lagerlöf had erected in memory of her sister Anna who died, far too young, at Gustavsfors Manor.

The oldest preserved cout house in Sweden. The countrys oldest preserved court house is in Långelanda. At a district-court session in January 1800 it was decided that a new court house should be built. It was finished in 1802 and used until 1936, when one started to use a more modern court house in the town of Årjäng. In Långelanda there are three buildings, a custody, an archive and the court house, which are historic monuments. The custody is built of the old court house and the archive was built in the beginning of the 20th century. The court house has a fine exterior but it is the interior that is especially intresting. The bar in the sessions hall is formed as a stone circle. Inside there is room for 12 jurors facing towards the judge and with their back towards the public. The judge and the assistant judge sat at the bench facing the listeners. Långelanda, where the court house is situated, is a row village where the houses are placed after a long village street. The village is one of the most well preserved row villages in Värmland. The oldest houses are built during the 19th century. Back in the days there was a stage and an inn. The judge and the jurors stayed at the farms in the village during the weeks when there was a session. There is a book about the hundred of Nordmark and the court house of Långelanda. It is written by Anna-Lena Nordström. In 1865 a trial, that was noticed both in Sweden and abroad, was held. The defendant was the vicar Anders Lindbäck. He stood in the dock, prosecuted for having murdered several parishioners by adding arsenic to the communal wine, as he visited the poor an ill. The reason was mercy, according to vicar Lindbäck. The real reason was that vicar Linbäck felt that the parish had to great expenses for poor relief. He was sentenced to death for having murdered an unusual number of his parishioners. He later commited suicide in the county prison in Karlstad. Before there has been a country play about a trial at Långelanda but now a newly written drama of five acts has been played at the community centre in Silbodal. It is written by Gösta Karlsson from Årjäng and holds the titel "First, order on earth" after an utterance from vicar Lindbäck. The country play is also about the person who could testify against vicar Lindbäck and have him convicted, Daniel in Huken. Several times he was served the poisoned communal wine but could not swallow it. Nevertheless Daniels mother became a victim of vicar Lindbäck.
