Literally down the street--you could actually walk, then walk off your calories on the way back. They have incredible steaks and seafood. Their chicken fried steak is also fantastic!

Eclectic and hip pizza place in downtown Abilene. Amazing pizza! Also, order the bread and butter appetizer. We refer to the butter there as "crack butter". It's incredible!

Incredible food...just amazing. Their filet is the best I've ever had. They serve a mean Long Island Iced Tea too...and they'll only serve you two. It packs a punch. Their chicken fried steak is also fantastic.

Gourmet Mexican food at it's finest. The atmosphere is really great too! They also have outdoor seating. Wednesdays are $2 Margarita days but expect to wait a while for a table. Worth it tho!

Abilene has a fantastic zoo. The giraffe exhibit alone is worth the price of admission. But if you listen closely at night from my front yard, sometimes you can hear the lions roar as they are fed. :) Also, try the new swan paddle boats on the lake. They are really fun!

It is truly amazing inside--clouds move across the ceiling and stars twinkle. They show classic movies and often have special events and shows. Even if you don't attend an event or movie, it's worth walking into to see. They are happy to allow any guest to come in.

This is the NATIONAL museum for illustrations from children's literature and it's right here in Abilene, Texas!! This is a great place for kids. While you're there, be sure to go across the street to Everman Park to see all the Dr. Seuss statues!
