Sintra, it is one of those places full of magic and mystery where nature and man combined into such a perfect symbiosis that UNESCO classified it as a World Heritage site. In the main square we see the Palace of the Village with its two conical chimneys. Dating back to the late 14th century, it was the summer resort of many kings throughout the history of Portugal. The Palace of Quinta da Regaleira constitutes one of the most surprising monuments of Sintra. Situated at the end of the historic center of the Village, it was built between 1904 and 1910, in the final period of the monarchy. Pena Palace (Palácio da Pena) is the most complete and remarkable example of the Portuguese architecture of Romanticism. Other places to visit: - Castle of the Moors (Castelo dos Mouros) - Castanheiros Park (Parque dos Castanheiros) - Chalet of the Countess of Edla (Chalet da Condessa D’Edla) - Park and Palace of Monserrate (Parque de Monserrate) - Convent of the Capuchos (Convento dos Capuchos) You cannot miss to taste the famous "Queijadas de Sintra" (“cheese cake pastry”) and "Travesseiros" at the "Piriquita" cafe.
