The reputed most fortified village in Morocco because of the number of old kasbahs. Not far outside Anmiter is the Mine De Sel where you can visit the mine and see how salt is still carved out of the mountainside. Amazing that work is still carried out this way.

Coutumes et culture

It is polite to ask people before taking a photo

Until the introduction of digital cameras it was not common for people to have their photos taken so cameras were held with some suspicion. Even now there are people who prefer not to have their photo taken while others will be happy to oblige so please ask first.
Que faut-il apporter ?

Bring some flip flops or easily removable shoes

These can easily be removed before walking on floor covering homes in the villages or can be used in the village hamam where the floor gets pretty hot.
Que faut-il apporter ?

Clothes that can be worn in layers

No thick jumpers as they are bulky and it is better to have many layers to allow for difference in temperatures during the daytime and at night. Layers can be added or removed as temperatures dictate. The nights can be pretty cold from October through until May while daytime temperatures can be in the upper teens and low 20 degrees centigrade during the day at times but some days may be cold and it might snow during your trip from November through to April though it rarely lasts for long in this area of the mountains.

Wearing respectful clothing

Allowing for local sensibilities please wear t-shirts with no plunging necklines with short, medium or long sleeves rather than sleeveless vest tops. 3/4 length or long trousers are also suggested. These can also help prevent overexposure to the sun when walking at this altitude.

A good pair of walking shoes

Trainers are not recommended as terrain is medium difficulty. Walking shoes, walking boots or walking sandals are recommended to make the most of the many walking routes in the area.
