Sightseeing

A gorgeous sandy beach 10 minutes walk from the house, or an minute or so in the car. Our kids love collecting treasures as they play - flints, holey chalk stone, oyster shells and mermaids purses. At low tide you can walk around to neighbouring beaches Kingsgate Bay and Stone Bay. In Summer months the water can be perfect for swimming (lifeguards on duty), and Joss Bay Surf School offer lessons and hire.

Food scene

Head towards Viking Bay and the surrounding streets for a huge range of restaurants, pubs and attractions. Do not miss Morellis Gelato parlour for its glorious Art Deco interior, coffees, desserts and of course the icecream. A good spot also an Aperol Spritz after a hard day building sandcastles. Find Flotsam & Jetsam for exquisite seafood and frites.

We love to walk from Broadstairs to Ramsgate on a sunny day. There’s always some good food to be found along Royal Parade/Harbour parade, whether it’s chips and icecream or al-fresco tapas. A favourite rainy day spot for the kiddies because or the arcades and candyfloss too!

For an extra dose of Dickens, head to Rochester by road or train. Also famous for its castle, cathedral and quaint high street. Super spot for food and pottering, or a picnic in the castle gardens with views across the River Medway. Close enough to Chatham Dockyard to visit both in one day.
