~30 minutes north in Wofford heights is Alta Sierra ski resort, small but beautiful! Majority of terrain is beginner to intermediate. They offer skiing, snowboarding and my favorite: snow tubing, including rentals and lessons if you need. They are a day use area. More information at www.altasierra.com

Kern River is the fastest this side of the Mississippi and famous for its rafting! Seasonal, not for the faint of heart, but well worth the adventure!
