On Saturdays this summer, the fire department hosts a Fish Fry. This has been a tradition since 1955. It is a quintessential Hatteras Island meal and definitely worth a visit if you are in town on Saturday. I recommend getting there right when they open as there is usually a line and they will sell out.

Conner’s Supermarket is a family owned store that has been open since 1959. They have fresh deli selections, to-go sandwiches perfect for the beach, and a wide selection of beers and wines.

A must try for breakfast! They have delicious breakfast sandwiches and pastries. I highly recommend the “Apple Uglie” which is the most popular item on their menu!

Take a day trip to Ocracoke Island! Visitors can board the free drive on ferry or buy a ticket to ride the passenger ferry. The ferry ride is about an hour across the Pamlico Sound. Once on Ocracoke visitors can rent a golf cart or ride the island shuttle to visit the sites around the island. There are many restaurants that offer fresh local seafood and a 1718 Brewery which offers cold brews and an in house kitchen!
