Gansevoort Street has lots of nice shopping. There is also an entrance here to the High Line-a park built on an historic freight rail line elevated above the streets. Great place for a morning stroll!

Chelsea Market is a hip food market inside of the old "National Biscuit Company" factory. Has bakeries like Amy's Bread, and also a sample sale space that changes every day. Go before the High Line.

Though this isn't in the area, I recommend it strongly. It has some of the best live music in Manhattan. Get here and try to scope a spot at one of the four tables instead of standing. Worth it!
