This art deco cinema is as beautiful as it is comfortable. A movie in the main hall is worth the ticket price alone simpley to be in the room.

This is the old weigh station for the ships. All the bricks you see on teh ground used to be open water.

Food Scene

One of my favorite palces in the winter. An old brown bar with a wonderufl wine list. They also serve the best fondue and have a long list of tapas.

Coffee, drinks or food, all served in the large open spaces of De Jaren. If you are lucky you can get a table outside along the water or in the winter, by the huge windows overlooking the canal.

Most of the restaurant around Leidseplein are tourist traps and the quality isn't so good. If you really want to try Dutch food this place may look like a trap but it isn't.

The best Dutch bakery in Amsterdam but the seond best bakery in the city. The French one has them beat but it's not in the center. Holtkamp is worth the queue you will most likely see when you pass.
