Go to the "Back Side" of the island for local feel of the island. See the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse and the Seawall picnic area. There is more peace and quiet here for easy access than anywhere else on the island if you don't hike.

this is very close to the house and it's my #1 favorite wake up early and get the blood pumping walk or bike. Fantastic views of the ocean, one of the most beautiful bridges in the park and there is a stairway to the stream that is magical

lovely beach of crushed shell. At the end of the beach is a trail to Great Head, fairly easy, great views. Also at the end there is a beautiful stream that feeds into the ocean .. sometimes it gets backed up. Bring a blanket and a lunch you will want to stay.. no dogs allowed. View is incredible of Bee Hive mountain.
