A lot of the nearby sushi joints are decent, but this one's a city-wide contender. It also gets a little crowded, though not nearly as tough to be seated as Sushi Zone on Market.

One of the best sushi joints in SF. Sadly, also one of the smallest - probably best not to bother if you don't arrive by 4:30 pm to hold a place in line before they open at 5.

Funky laid back atmosphere, great sandwiches and salads, often live music playing. Say hi to Zara for me - she's the owner and one of the most charming personalities in the neighborhood.

My other favorite coffee joint in the hood (next to Cafe International), lacks the funky flair but arguably serves better coffee and has a fabulous Parisian atmosphere.

Just opened a year ago, methinks the Safeway across the street may not last much longer. Pay attention to the price tags - a lot of things are cheap enough, but there are some lavish items in there.
