The wonders of the desert foothills and rocky gorges of the Santa Catalina Mountains are marvelous and accessible. We ride the tram 4 miles up and then walk back down. Lots of gorgeous canyons and water features along the road to the top.

Sabino Canyon

The Catalina Highway, also called the Mount Lemmon Highway, as well as the Hitchcock Highway (after Frank Harris Hitchcock) runs up the Santa Catalina Mountains from the east side of Tucson up to Summerhaven, at the top of Mt. Lemmon. The beautiful, curving road is a favorite drive for tourists, for locals escaping summer's heat and cyclists, and has been recently designated as the Sky Island Parkway, part of the US National Scenic Byway system. Highly recommend this beautiful drive up to the ski resort and restaurant. Large boulders line the road as well as hoodoos with lots of pull outs for photos.

Mont Lemmon

This outdoor museum includes desert live animal displays, stingray pool, hummingbird and bird aviaries, great place to walk and enjoy the desert. Lots of desert plantings throughout this large outdoor desert museum. They offer art classes and many other events. Early mornings are best to avoid the crowds. Highly recommend purchasing a yearly pass if you are visiting for any length of time.

Lots of desert plantings throughout this large outdoor desert museum. They offer art classes and many other events. Early mornings are best to avoid the crowds. Highly recommend purchasing a yearly pass if you are visiting for any length of time.
Saguaro National Park is a United States national park in Pima County in southeastern Arizona. The 92,000-acre (37,000 ha) park consists of two separate areas—the Tucson Mountain District (TMD) about 10 miles (16 km) west of the city of Tucson and the Rincon Mountain District (RMD) about 10 miles (16 km) east of the city—that preserve Sonoran Desert landscapes, fauna, and flora, including the giant saguaro cactus. One of our favorite places to enjoy the saguaro cactuses and desert flora and fauna.

Tropical butterflies from around the world are featured in the Cox Butterfly & Orchid Pavilion Oct.–May. Highly recommend this beautiful botanical gardens. We have a year pass and enjoy the butterfly house and other exhibits.

Old Tucson is a movie studio and theme park just west of Tucson, Arizona, adjacent to the Tucson Mountains and close to the western portion of Saguaro National Park. Built in 1939 for the movie Arizona (1940), it has been used for the filming of several movies and television westerns since then, such as Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957), Rio Bravo (1959), El Dorado (1966), and Little House on the Prairie TV series of the 1970s-1980s. It was opened to the public in 1960, and historical tours are offered about the movies filmed there, along with live cast entertainment featuring stunt shows and shootouts.

Food Scene
Our favorite breakfast, lunch and dinner restaurant. Highly recommend this place..delicious food and very economical. They are very busy most days for breakfast and they do have a party room for groups. Great service and the chef offers incredible meals.
