Not the best known Museum in DC by far, but a superb one. Great variety of rotating exhibitions. Best for the more informed visitor, not as much the casual one. Unique insight to the Continent for those who are curious and open-minded.

Still has a lot of antiques and old memorabilia making for a unique decor and sort of a gilded age or turn of the century upscale "saloon" atmosphere. Its almost always a busy place, so make reservations or choose non-peak time to visit.

The iconic old-school hardware store on the east side survived a devastating fire in 2013. Currently operate out of a couple locations while the building is rebuilt. They have it all + best service!

Yes its in Anacostia, which has some of the rougher, poorer areas of DC. But this National Site is really great. And btw, one of the best views anywhere of DC is from the front porch of the historic house on the bluff.

Fabulous for photography if you like dragonflies and birds and amphibians plus a diverse collection of amazing water lilies. Very peaceful place. The entrance is a bit tricky to find.
