One of our favorite places for a morning coffee and breakfast sandwich fix ... and maybe something sweet for dessert. Enjoy your meal on the deck behind the Aquarium Marketplace overlooking the harbor.

Locals love this place and there’s often a wait - but it’s totally worth it. Great (and inexpensive) meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner a short stroll down Bradford St. from our condo.

Super awesome general store and mini-grocery selling great sandwiches, salads, sweets, snacks, and lube - what more do you need? It's impossible to choose between a breakfast sandwich on their focaccia or on their biscuits, so get one of each and decide for yourself. Their "Little Edie" is the best vegan sandwich in town, and their deviled egg salad has been known to make converts of even the most avowed egg salad-haters. Tell Rebecca and Sean we say hello!

The closest that Ptown gets to an old school diner, the Mayflower is an unglamorous but reliable choice for decent seafood, burgers, and the like - and the only place we know that has Indian pudding on the menu for dessert (don't knock it 'til you've tried it!)

Our favorite post-dinner treat in Ptown is a giant cup or cone of frozen yogurt from Bliss, always made with and/or topped with seasonal fresh fruit. (OK, we've also been known to make an entire dinner out of this stuff - but don't tell anyone.) Open during summer season only.

Do we really need to tell you about The Lobster Pot? It’s a reliable and much-loved classic, and their chowder is the best in town.

Parks & Nature

My P'town touchstone, a place where I return again and again in my dreams. The walk across the giant stones to Long Point and back is exhausting and rewarding and will remain a part of you always. Note: it's not for the weak of knee or ankle, and make sure you check the tide charts before you plan your walk.

One of the most breathtaking bike trails in the world, literally and figuratively: there are some serious uphill climbs on the dunes. But the sights and smells make it all worth it.

For one of the best hikes in P'town (or anywhere), head out of town on Snail Rd, cross Route 6, keep going over the dunes and don't stop 'til you reach Race Point and the Atlantic Ocean. Sublime.

Drinks & Nightlife

Summers in P'town you'll find us every Sunday night downstairs at the old Enzo (now burger joint Local 186, but everyone still calls it "downstairs at Enzo"). Great spot for quiet drinks anytime.

Some say it's the oldest gay bar in the USA, which at least makes it worth a visit on historical grounds. The adjacent "Little Bar" next door is a better bet for a quiet, laid back drink with friends.

"Happy Hours" are illegal in Massachusetts (why?), but watching the sunset over the bay while sipping a cocktail at the Harbor Lounge is one of the happiest hours in town

Essentials

We've been coming to P'town so long that we still refer to this as the A&P. Still the best place to buy groceries in town, even if it's sort of the only place to buy groceries in town.

It wont be surprising to find out that a unique place like P'town has an equally quirky and throughly charming museum housing hundreds of its civic treasures - everything from stuffed polar bears to antique fire engines and lots of stuff about the Pilgrims (who landed here before Plymouth Rock!) Avoid the new (and gimmicky) funicular from Bradford Street and walk up High Pole Hill just as generations of locals and tourists have done before you.

Probably our favorite art gallery in a town full of great art galleries. In addition to whatever's on the walls during one of their constantly rotating group shows, you're just as likely to stumble upon a performance or poetry reading - especially if you visit during one of the weekly gallery walks on Friday evenings in the summer season.
