Wellfleet Drive-In and surrounding complex has a long history spanning the decades. The Drive-In was the first part, built in 1957 by principal owners John (Don) Jentz, Charles Zender, and other partners. The first movie ever shown was “DESK SET” starring Katharine Hepburn. Some other classic features that have graced the screen are: “BEN HUR,” “JAWS,” “STAR WARS,” and “ET.” In 1958 screen supports were installed to help withstand strong Cape Cod winds from hurricanes and Nor’Easters. The original speaker boxes still sit on the poles, though you now have the better option of listening through your car radio.

The original Orpheum Theater opened in 1916 as Chatham’s first and only movie house for 72 years. Then in 1987, like so many village movie theaters on Cape Cod, it ceased operations, went dark, and eventually became a CVS pharmacy. The renovation of the Chatham Orpheum Theater began in November 2011, right after CVS vacated the historic theater building. A local grass roots team to raise funds needed to buy the original Orpheum building and bring back movies to Main Street

Whale Watching is a must see and do activity on Cape Cod! You are sure to see several of these magnificent creatures and gain knowledge of their habitat and potential perils along the way. Don't miss this opportunity! We typically take the boat out of Barnstable Harbor because it's a closer drive however you end up whale watching in the same area and the actual boat ride is shorter if you go from P-town.

Favorite Local Restaurants
We've listed several of our local favorite and most conveniently located restaurants in the area.
One of our summertime favorite places. Angela votes this the best lobster roll on Cape Cod despite all other claims! During peak season go early or be prepared to wait in line and risk not finding a parking spot. If you find parking, don't dismay, the line moves quickly! We often choose lunch during the busy season. Seating is all outdoors on communal picnic tables so the atmosphere is beachy casual which includes BYOB. In addition to bringing your own beer or wine, bring cash, this is a cash only establishment although there is an ATM on site.
