What to see and do -- and eat! -- within walking distance

Food scene
Providence is known for its burgeoning food scene! Check out these local eateries, cafes, and restaurants for some of the best tastes nearby. Each of these places are favorites of mine and -- best of all -- are within short walking distance of my home.
Tallulah's Taqueria is about a three to five minute walk from my home. The food is fresh, authentic, and delicious! Though it's a small eatery, there is plenty of outdoor seating available in the spring and summer. I recommend trying the beef tongue burrito -- it's my favorite!

Tea in Sahara is hip tea and coffee shop that also features delicious Moroccan cuisine. The traditional Moroccan-style interior creates a warm, cozy atmosphere that's perfect for sitting down to have a conversation with friends or family while drinking tea or coffee. It's also a nice place to do work, read, or study. Get there in less than one minute on foot -- it's across the street from my home. I recommend trying the Turkish Coffee!

Enjoy fine dining and craft cocktails at Persimmon : a stylish, tasty, and, most importantly, cozy and welcoming, restaurant that offers an ever-changing menu featuring fresh, seasonal cuisine. It's rare to find a restaurant with food that tastes as good as it looks -- Persimmon is one of the few that I've dined at. Less than ten minutes walking from my home, this place is a "must-visit" for anyone seeking a memorable dinner experience on the East Side!

Sightseeing
Local attractions -- particularly outdoor attractions within walking distance of my home -- fall into this category. Here's a list of interesting and beautiful places to see nearby. In the fall, summer, and spring months, these places are great for outdoor exercise, too!
The East Side's beloved India Point Park is a "must-see" for first time visitors and returning guests alike! This park, which has been carefully maintained and cared for over the years, offers a beautiful view of the convergence between the Seekonk and Providence Rivers. Catch a glimpse of Brown's storied crew team rowing up and down the rivers during training and competition!

Don't miss the opportunity to tour Brown's historic campus while visiting town -- it's just a short walk away. The campus is filled with beautiful, carefully maintained brick and stone buildings, courtyards, and monuments. I would recommend walking Benefit street to see some of the finest examples of Victorian architecture in New England!

Adjacent to Brown's campus is the RISD Museum: one of Providence's premier locations for culture, art, and design. The museum features artistic exhibits from many different periods and places. I particularly enjoy the modern art wing and the student art sections!

Neighborhoods
These are some of my favorite parts of Providence! Some are within walking distance -- like College Hill -- while others are a short drive away. Being a smaller city, Providence allows guests to see all of its sights in a short period of time -- visit all three locations in one day, without being in a hurry!
