Places to eat, things to do!

Food scene
This is always the first place I go as soon as I drive off the ferry. The food is wonderful, as well as the atmosphere. The bakery next door makes amazing bread, and they use it at the restaurant. It’s an open kitchen and I love sitting at the counter to watch, and strike up conversations with the locals. You don’t want to miss Roses.

Fantastic local food, many things from their own garden (which you can tour, and you should). The views from here are amazing. Sit at the counter for fun conversation, often with Doe Bay employees, and a great view of the kitchen.

Did we mention we have a James Beard award-winning chef on the island? This place offers one of the best dining experiences in the state. I compare the food to Canlis in Seattle… but it’s more laid back and cozy. I love to sit at the counter to watch their tiny kitchen work it! You HAVE to eat here at least once… and don’t just order pizza. Do order pizza, but you have to order something else too.

Carlin is housed in an historical strawberry packing plant, and shares the building with Orcas ArtWorks, an amazing array of local art. Oh, and the food? Just try to keep yourself from taking at least one photo of it.

This place is a real gem!! You must go, even if you have no intention of buying any pottery. The location is beautiful, their treehouse is cool, and the way they display their pottery in their yard is whimsical and fun.
