Coffee & Breakfast
This is one of our daily go-to's because 1) the coffee is just so good and 2) there is always great local art to enjoy or purchase. The owners do a lot in the community and , not that one would really notice, the coffeeshop is entirely vegan.

We love their patio, but they also have a drive thru if you're short on time. They serve food all day, but we particularly like their brunch. (Dog friendly is a plus)

A popular food truck turned full restaurant, we love sitting rooftop at Paperboy while we slowly wake up with coffee (or mimosas...) Recently, its gotten pretty packed, so we recommend a reservation to keep that wait time down.

We both like the food here because you have options to be indulgent or healthy depending on what you have planned for the day. Brunch is the most popular time of day, though if you find yourself in a long wait, they have games outside at your leisure.

Casual Dining
There are multiple locations, but the East 7th is our go-to. They are a stellar bakery that also serve great food and delicious drinks. They have a large patio for all times of day, or an inside seating option that is honestly great if you need a public place to work for a while. Sophie's favorite is the grilled cheese, Lu's go-to is the pretzel with beer cheese every time.

Honestly, this is both one of our favorite places to get tacos AND one of our favorite places to get drinks on the regular. Its fun to bring some games or quick enough to just eat and run. Sophie's order: spicy frozen margarita + Pirate . Lu's order: mexican martini + Pescadito. Oh and lots of guacamole.

A dive bar with a fashion scene. A lot of interesting cross-overs occur at this grungy, yet stylish spot. If you want to experience what happens when a motorcycle club, a bachelorette party, and last night's event staff of the live show you went to see all share a bar, head on over to YJSC.

Whether its the beginning of your night or the end, this food truck in the back of Liberty Bar is worth your stop. If you're ever going to cross "ordering everything on the menu" off your bucket list, do it here. We...may have done it...a few times.

Cosmic has it all. Large patio for large groups. Coffee for morning chats. Three (very good) food trucks to satisfy whatever mood you might be in. Drinks all night. Whether its to work, read, visit with friends/family, go on a date, you'll want to do it here.

In the first floor of a hotel, this menu will alter your taste buds for the better. And by menu, we mean whatever the chef decides to serve you in a multi-course experience for the day since they dont actually have a menu. If you're in the mood to eat&drink without making any decisions, this is the place for you.

Drinks
Okay, so this one takes a little planning(especially for bigger groups), but we promise it will be worth it. You have to download the app and request a reservation where you will then be sent instructions on location and how to enter (its a "secret" bar). When you're inside, no cameras, no talking to other groups, 2 hour limit. The drinks are next level.

We might be bias because we had our first "oh wait we like each other?" date here BUT they have great drinks with lots of space. Like most places in Austin, there's a good chance you'll get to hear live music too. AND if you're lucky, the mezcal lounge upstairs will be open.

Okay. Dont judge us because we dont actually think the drinks are that great. But hey, its Christmas all year round at Lala's. And we mean like sensory overload Christmas. Like Elves dance in the air every time someone goes to the bathroom Christmas (literally). If that's youre thing, you should definitely go to this novelty bar.

Dancing
A neat place not quite on dirty 6th (but as close as you can get) that has good dancing music consistently. They share a back yard with Swan Dive and so you can go between bars without having to whip out your ID each time. If you're someone who tends to find themselves barefoot at the end of the night, this is probably your jam.

Highland Lounge is one of our favorite places to lose the night. They have a large dance floor for those who are feeling the energy. They have an upstairs that overlooks the dance floor and has more of a lounging vibe if you're finding yourself in conversation. They have an outside bar for when you need a break. And they have a basement bar for those who find themselves in the mood for dark, dingy, underground, red light, synth situations.

If casually swaying side to side is more your dance style, Cheer up Charlies will definitely deliver. A cross over between bar and music venue, theres always a good (and chill) time to be had.

For those looking for a nice medium to difficult hike, this is our favorite near town spot. Hidden away in a beautiful neighborhood, this out and back trail is actually about 7 miles total, with water features, and nice stints of elevation. We recommend starting the trail off of Riverplace Blvd because then the waters and bathrooms will be available at the other side ,right when you want them at the midpoint. Otherwise, you have to go the whole 7 miles without access to either. Recently they started charging $10 on the weekends.
