Surrounded by towering rock cliffs, the lake - emerald green and silent - is set in one of the most impressive landscapes in Germany. It ist perhaps for this reason that so many visitors com to Königssee year after year. This narrow, fjord- like lake is 8 km long (5 miles), up to 1,2 km wide (3/4 mile) and lies 602 meters (2000 ft) above sea level. With a maximum depth of 192 meters (650 ft), Lake Königssee retains its cold temperature even during the hottest time of the year. It is actually the deepest and, thanks to environmental protection, the cleanest lake in Germany.

For some 450 years, visitors from around the world have been entering the Hallein salt mine, deep inside the Dürrnberg. Which makes the Hallein salt mine the first in history to open its tunnels to the public. Visitors from near and far included many crowned heads, guests of the archbishops. All were fascinated by the mysterious subterranean world. And to this very day, the mines which the Ancient Celts clawed meter-by-meter out of the Earth over 2500 years ago have lost none of their magical appeal.

A home for planes, art lovers and connoisseurs. Much of the fascination of Hangar-7 lies in its architecture. If you are standing inside the vaults of Heaven seem to open up above the historic aircraft and exhibits. If you look at the construction from outside, the similarity to a wing which radiates uncommon dynamism and weightlessness is striking, despite the 1,200 tonnes of steel and 380 tonnes of special glass used in the construction.
