If you don't know who John Fleer is, look him up! He’s a 7-time nominated James Beard Finalist and a sweet heart with a serious passion for food. Tell them Brooke German sent you, and make sure you have reservations! A wonderful restaurant and staff.

One of my personal favorites, Cucina is owned by Bryan Canipelli who was a James Beard Finalist. They make all their pasta in house, most of their fare is regional (aside from seafood, citrus, wine) Brian takes traditional Italian dishes and utilizes WNC ingredients. BEST wood fired pizza in town, and a must stop.

If you're a coffee enthusiast, this is a must stop. Trade and Lore has probably the best and most knowledgeable barista staff in town. They also have a cozy space for getting work done or couches for lounging. They also offer beer, wine, snacks, and a fun patio!

Located in the River Arts distract and a great spot for seafood and craft cocktails. We love hitting District Wine Bar next door while we wait for a table. Their burger is one of the best in town, but usually not on the menu and only available after 9pm :)

Drinks & Nightlife

If you’re looking for charcuterie alongside a craft cocktail-this is your spot. Imperial Life is located above the wonderful restaurant Table. They make all their charcuterie in house and the bartenders curate an exciting cocktail menu. We love stopping in for a late-night snack and tasty beverage. There tends to be live music and sometimes a DJ on the weekends.

With more than 35 wines by the glass and some of the best FREE local live music, this is a must stop. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and there is an amazing cheese shop adjacent to the space. Check a local paper (Mountain Xpress) for nightly bands.

Parks & Nature

Mount Mitchell (elevation 6,684 ft.) is the highest point east of the Mississippi River, and it's easy and free for all to enjoy. Located 35 miles northeast of downtown Asheville, reach Mount Mitchell via a very scenic drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. From the Parkway, drive NC Highway 128 all the way to the summit. From the parking area, walk up a 1/4-mile paved, accessible trail to the observation deck for 360-degree panoramic views. There are several hikes available once you reach Mt. Mitchell; be sure to check out which hike you want to do based on distance and difficulty. We also tell guest to be sure to bring a jacket or an extra layer of clothes. Temperatures are usually 10-30 degrees
