You can walk from the park next to the flat all the way through to these woods, and then on to roath park lake. just follow the paths downhill towards the city centre. (about 1hour10mins)

massive regeneration of the old docks which is looking good- loads to see and do, plenty of restaurants and bars. Best place for a coffee is in the welsh asssembly building, they do free tours too. :)
