Food Scene

Sans Rival Bistro is home to Dumaguete's famous pasalubong or dessert --- the Silvanas. Hoards of locals and tourists alike line up to get a taste of their butter and chocolate silvanas. I highly recommend dining al fresco (facing the Boulevard boardwalk) while having a cup of native tsokolate paired with silvanas!

Drinks & Nightlife

Allegre is great for a tapas-and-wine-kind-of-night. It's walking distance from the Airbnb. You can head straight down the street (heading to Rizal Boulevard) and proceed to have a leisurely walk at night through the boulevard boardwalk -- 3 blocks after and you'll see Allegre (Beside Bethel Guest House). I highly recommend having their tapas, pizza and their sangria! For more intimate gatherings, the original Allegre space (a smaller, cozier A/C room) is best for couples and a small group.

Sightseeing

Take the chance to visit DUMAGUETE CATHEDRAL CHURCH also known as Saint Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral Church while staying in our Airbnb. It is located in Perdices Street in front of Quezon park which is a very short walk from our airbnb. Dumaguete Cathedral Church is the oldest stone church in Negros Island. Beside it is the iconic Belfry of Dumaguete -- if you are catholic, you can light candles and take a moment to pray.

Subida Souvenirs is a good place to visit if you are looking to buy souvenirs and little trinkets as a memorabilia to your trip. They have products made by locals from accessories to food (chips, coffee, etc.) They have a shop in Valencia, Negros Oriental which is a short drive from Dumaguete City. If you are scrimped on time, they have a branch at MARKETPLACE in Dumaguete Business Park which is in the same area as Robinsons Mall and right beside the Ceres Bus Terminal.

“The National Museum at Dumaguete Presidencia” is located on the next block and is a very short walk from the Airbnb towards Sta. Catalina Street. I highly recommend visiting this newly opened museum especially if its your first visit in Dumaguete. This regional museum features rich cultural and natural heritage of Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, and the Central Visayas Region, showcasing its terrestrial and marine biodiversity, architectural heritage, and artifacts and relics.

The Pantawan area at the Rizal Boulevard is a very short walk from the my Airbnb — 2-3 mins. approximately, depends on how fast you walk. I highly suggest to definitely take advantage of our location and definitely don’t miss going to the boulevard especially if it’s your first time in Dumaguete. It is a fairly new development in the south part of the boulevard. You can do some sight seeing, try some local delicacies such as balut from the food stalls, enjoy a walk by the sea and if you’re up for it get a reflexology session. In the mornings, it’s usually filled with early risers doing their exercise or those who simply want to take time and watch the sunrise. On the other hand, during the evenings, especially when it’s a public holiday and/or Christmas season there are usually scheduled events by the city and wonderful Christmas lights set up for everyone’s enjoyment.
