Never disappointed with the food here. They have a take away section as well as a sit down restaurant. Fantastic food - not just your run of the mill fish and chips (though that's good too!)

just a mile from the cottage is Cullercoats with its sheltered harbour and great selection of coffee shops. The Boatyard is a favourite - fantastic veggie breakfast.

Amazing food from a converted shipping container right on the beach. Open all year round - in the winter they have the log burners going, and fire pits - wrap a blanket round you and enjoy. I'm not a big oyster fan but I ordered seconds here!

Set in the old Victorian train station, the market takes place on both platforms. The station is still active but now serves the Metro with direct links to Newcastle city centre. Everything from art to vintage; great vinyl selections, street food, home baked goods, crafts.

Sightseeing
The fish quay is a working fish quay. Great place to wander and check out the the fresh fish shops which are plentiful. But the place has become something of a destination with new bars and restaurants springing up.
