If the famous five met for a secret meeting in 1956 - this would be the go to place. The tea shop that time forgot. Utterly charming, in middle of nowhere , on Allexton Road, Stockerston It is off the road to Uppingham from Medbourne. Open from Wednesday to Sunday, It also has a fishing lake. They do old fashioned sweets, apple tarts, crumbles, full English breakfast and massive roast dinners on Sundays. Our cleaner provides the sweets. They also allow fishing. If you want to go somewhere that evokes England prior to mini skirts, this is it... hard to spot on road to Alexon, behind tall hedges, but that is part of their charm...

Also known as the Harringworth Viaduct, the Welland Viaduct crosses the valley of the River Welland between Harringworth in Northamptonshire and Seaton in Rutland. Over one kilometre long, completed in 1878 and with 82 ARCHES , the bridge is the longest masonry viaduct across a valley in Britain. Built for the Midlands railway it was designed by John Underwood and rises a spectacular 60 feet into the air. In early 2009, a single daily passenger service was introduced between Melton Mowbray and St Pancras via Corby, the first regular daily passenger service to operate across the viaduct since the 1960s.

The Leicester Cathedral was the last resting place of Richard 111. Strangely, the man in our village next to where we used to live ( Frazier Gilbert) was given the amazing privilege of being in charge of the funeral procession. he was a funeral director and carpenter that fixed our windows and lots of other things. Truely lovely, lovely man. A close friend of ours did the original dig, that found his body in a car park in Leicester. We feel so touched to be close to people that have been involved. Since then, there has been a visitor centre developed next to the cathedral. His tomb is a magnificent symbol of simplicity. This is a link to the site: https://kriii.com/

Rockingham Castle, Rockingham. LE16 8TH T: +44 (0)1536 770240 Just amazing, 7 kings of England have slept there, you can see countless counties from the gardens. Used for wedding venue. Ask to see the hunting picture with no feet ( that's what I said...) Have interesting juxtaposition of very old and modern pictures. Have very weird opening times that seem to be designed to keep you away!. They hold various events throughout the year so always worth keeping an eye on. It is 4 miles away and has been in the same family for 1000 years! My horse Udo lived out his days here being spoilt rotten.
