US National Whitewater Center is a great place for outdoor activities during the summer months. They have wold class whitewater rafting on a closed course, flatwater kayaking on the Catawba River and many many other things to do from mountain biking to ziplines to rock walls. Great spot and only about a 20 minute drive. They have live music on Thursday nights during the summer as well!
