In creating Sauced, we really wanted to bring the South to Northern California, so we literally did just that. All the wood and corrugated ceiling in here is reclaimed and shipped in from barns in Georgia and North Carolina. I even had Brenden shipped in. We opened Sauced with the invaluable help of a lot of family (our Wives, Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Children) and friends along the way. We hope the final product is one you will want to experience over and over again for any occasion.http://www.saucedbbqandspirits.com/sauced-home-sacramento.html

Sutter's Fort was a 19th-century agricultural and trade colony in the Mexican Alta California province. It was built in 1839 and originally called New Helvetia by its builder John Sutter. In 1847 Sutter sent aid to the Donner Party, a group of immigrants trapped in a winter storm in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Word spread and Sutter became known for his hospitality and for providing temporary refuge to travelers. This reputation made New Helvetia the destination for early immigrants to California.

A convenient thru-way between midtown and River Park for walkers, runners and cyclists. Go past the skate park to the river and follow the dirt road along the river upstream, crossing under the Business 80 freeway bridge, then back up to the levee. There is a little known gate on the River Park side of the levee, with stairs and a ramp down to it. It has always been unlocked when I've used it, but close it behind you. Or you can continue on the trail on the river side of the levee all the way to the H/J street bridge. Scenery is kind of wild for being in the middle of an urban area.
