Open Tuesday - Saturday 9am - 4pm for breakfast, lunch, tea and cakes. Friday and Saturday evenings, the Wine Cellar is open 6-11pm with indoor and outdoor seating.

Lovely park to relax in with cafe hatch service during summer months. Beautiful trees and flower beds, secret walled gardens. Great for a picnic or just lying on the grass relaxing. Sussex Guild has a shop here too. Located near Lewes railway station - about 15 / 20 mins walk west from my house.

The oldest natural spring pool in the UK I believe. Freezing (as it's fed from a natural spring), but lovely once you're in!! Changing facilities, cafe, lawn to relax on. Early morning adults only swims, etc. Seasonal membership. Can get very crowded with long queues in the summer! For more peace and quiet, best to go before schools break up!

Riverside is on left, just over the Cliffe bridge and in addition to a great cafe with reasonably priced food and good service, the building also includes other great independents - including a butchers, fishmonger, barbers, etc.

My favourite places in and around Lewes
Lots going on in Lewes - beside the lovely countryside - there are independent shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and historic sites. Some great places for music in the evening including The Royal Oak and The Con Club. Check out `Viva Lewes' - monthly magazine available from the Lewes Tourist Information Office, top of School Hill and Station Street (I have a copy) for what's on in and around the area including the Gig Guide.
Our newest addition to Lewes - our own cinema - also good for drinks/tea/coffee, cakes, meals - just people watching generally. Nice atmosphere, even if you're not going to see a film.

Within `reasonable' walking distance of Lewes, much of it following the river Ouse north of the town. Great food and you can hire boats on the river. Unless walking back to Lewes, book a taxi for your return.

Great walk over the Downs, takes about just over an hour - with return via Glynde railway station (or vice versa). Sadly the Trevor Arms pub is still not open (don't ask), but there's a lovely little tea room in the village where you can also buy newspapers, etc.

Open all day, 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 5 minutes walk from my house in Cliffe High Street. Great location to meet and people-watching.

Great venue for live music and social events - best prices for drinks in Lewes, great acoustics and some amazing big name bands appearing here in recent years. They have a nice garden with barbeques in the summer. Check out Viva Lewes gig guide for what's on.
