Quaint thatched 15th century pub next to St Marys church. This is a real step back in time with a fantastic garden and the wonderful old 'snug' bar. The locals are always friendly as long as you talk to them - don't be afraid!! Food available but check their website for kitchen opening times.

CAMRA UK pub of the year. Recently converted town pub with huge range of great beers and basic food. One of the only places in town with a good sized garden. Always 10 real ales and 10 keg beers plus dozens of world beers in bottles. A must visit if you like british beer with great prices and plenty of other cider, wine and spirit choices for the non-beer drinker.

Simply the best 'proper' pub in Cheltenham. Wonderful real pub atmosphere. No food. A bit tricky to find but worth the effort

Superb range of world and UK beers with a growing range of beers on tap. Open friday nights for a cosy and sociable drink with regulars. Choose from hundreds of beers and Leigh will put any you like in the fridge if needed.

Very nice bar (more upmarket than most of my recommendations!) with great food and beers. Sit in the sofas or bar stools looking over the street.

Just over the other side of Cleeve Hill, a lovely little town with Sudely Castle as it's main attraction. Plenty of interesting shops and towns. Possible to walk there but you need to be fit!
