Yum! Delfina offers Cal-Italian cuisine, and is a delicious and delightful (tho not cheap) night out. Next door, Delfina Pizzeria offers Italian style thin crust pizza for the more casually inclined.

I detest shopping, but all of the amazing goodness and the friendly employees make shopping at BiRite pleasant, even to me! Wander the crowded aisles and build a gourmet picnic to eat in Dolores Park.

The line for their "small-batch, artisanal ice creams, sorbets, and confections" can wrap around the corner, but it moves quickly and is worth the wait. The Salted Caramel is a cult of its own. If you don't have time for the line, try the "other" window, where you can get soft-serve and packed pints, usually with no waiting.

This is by far the best value restaurant in the neighborhood! Delicious, basic food, it's our favorite spot for a greasy breakfast after a night of too many beers. They also have the widest variety of options of any restaurant I've ever been to. And if those aren't enough to get you there, then go to meet Sammy, the friendliest chef in town. He'll smile and wave from behind the counter, where he's no doubt manning the grill. (I know he'll be there because he's ALWAYS there!)

"They unpaved a parking lot, and put up a paradise." Formerly the employee parking lot of a PepsiCo bottling plant; Now a delightful Community Garden. If the gate is open, go in and have a look!

Don't Miss the Pirate Supply Store! Author Dave Eggers' free writer's workshop for kids, the space was zoned for retail, so instead of getting a pricey variance, he opened this shop for pirates-in-need. Miss it, and I might make you walk the plank!

BART is a great way to get to SF or Oakland airports, or anywhere along the "Market Street Corridor" - from Civic Center (City Hall) to the Embarcadero (the Ferry Building and the waterfront.) Walking along Valencia is often more enjoyable than walking on Mission St. Or take the side streets between Valencia and Guerrero: Lapidge will take you by the Women's Building Mural; Dearborn will take you past the Dearborn Community Garden; and Albion will take you past a plaque marking the site of the first Spanish settlement, where they lived while the Mission was being built.
