Gerði offers breakfast buffet and dinner daily and is conveniently the closest such place to us, only 2.5km away. Both their breakfast and dinner is traditional Icelandic.

Gerði offers breakfast buffet and dinner daily and is conveniently the closest such place to us, only 2.5km away. Both their breakfast and dinner is traditional Icelandic.
The closest town to our place (70km). Höfn is known for its langoustine and we firmly recommend trying it out. The town inhabits quite a few restaurants so we recommend looking them up before departing (and perhaps book a table if it's the weekend).

Parks & Nature
If you're interested in glacier hiking tours and glacier cave tours we highly recommend www.blueiceland.is Blue Iceland is a local company with tour guides from the area and they are both very knowledgeable and fun to be around. Their tours are pretty amazing!

Sightseeing
Up in the hill behind the house is a beautiful waterfall. Please feel free to hike up to it. You might have to go over stairs, depending on where you go from and please be careful as the stones around the waterfall might be wet and slippery.

Thorbergur centre was built in memory of the famous Icelandic writer Þórbergur Þórðarson (1888 – 1974), who is from here.
Þórbergssetur is a heritage museum and offers exhibitions of the district Sudursveit and the writer Þórbergur Þorðarson, his life and work.

Hoffell hot tubs offer a relaxing experiencing, laying in the hot geothermal water while gazing at the glacier. It's very nice after a long day out and about.
