Local Attractions.
My house is located near The Yarra River and there are a number of places nearby which are of significance to the Wurundjeri people as well as to other Melbournians
Studley Park Boathouse, built in 1927, is the oldest public boathouse. The surrounding parkland was and still is a very popular picnic ground. Kane's bridge is a suspension bridge. It is a relaxing place to visit for a meal or a coffee, having a choice of two eating areas, and if you are feeling energetic, you can hire a canoe or a rowboat and enjoy a pleasant time on the river. Close by there is a driving range and a mini golf range or maybe you would prefer a stroll along the banks of The Yarra!

If you are a cyclist, Melbourne is the place for you as it has an extensive bicycle network. If you have your own cycle you have a number of cycle trails nearby, the Darebin Creek Trail, the Main Yarra Trail and the Capital Trail. Otherwise there are a number of places where you can hire a cycle, the easiest one being at Federation Square.

Melbourne Zoo is renowned for its gardens, many of which use Australian plants as screens as well as for fodder. Always flowers to see. Zoos Victoria is dedicated to conserving 21 endangered Australian animal species, by breeding and releasing them back into the wild. Corroboree Frog, Orange Bellied Parrot, Helmeted Honeyeater (Victoria's bird emblem) and Tasmanian Devil are a few species which are benefiting from this.

There are many galleries, cafes and retro furniture shops in Smith St. The side streets are a great place to wander and you will discover more tiny cafes as well as colourful street art. An interesting suburb where you can easily spend 4 hours or so exploring.
