Local Eating in Lamai

those places I found quickly, those I stumbled on and those people directed me towards
simply the best 'home cooking' restaurant I have found anywhere at unbelievably cheap prices given the superb quality and consistently good food. from 7 am (breakfast burritto's, fresh fruit, variety of juices, great coffee) to evening meals when it gets busier but the food is just boss brilliant it is the best value winner and best food winner for Lamai if not wider Anyone feels this is not superb, come see me and I will refund you because it is a gem of a place. Recommended Fish Taco's, Tom Yum, Goiji Berry shake

Jean Luc (owner./chef) is a talent. The fella gets food like on a Frenchman can, bit like Brazilians and football. This place delivers special food ina super relaxed environment this is after all Samui. Jean Luc does go to extraordinary/ slightly unhinged lengths to get the produce he wants, especially shell fish/ game birds. Nothing on this menu will be anything other than spectacularly great , from the gin selection before you eat, to this magnificent Calvados/ ice cream/ apple desert that is just humbling Bloody brilliant, Davies guareentee'd

Beaches

the better beaches and bays, popular and those less visited, on Samui and how to get there
international cool is the brand and it translates perfectly to the beach club based in Lipa Noi. The usual high end, high quality product you get in Miami or Marbella, its a beautiful place, the people are beautiful, the food is beautiful, the cocktail menu is to die for - but the prices are most definitely not typical Samui so be prepared. Not an every day, but a great way to spend less usual day, so get yourself a cabana, start getting slowly smashed listening to deep house and wishing you went to the gym a bit more often

Silver Beach is a 250m-long tropical beach paradise set in a charming little bay facing northeast located just north of Lamai Beach, at the foothills and cliffs separating Lamai from the more popular Chaweng area on the east coast of Koh Samui. Shopping

Samui got a retail reboot with the impressive Central Festival but there are some other places for retail therapy off the beaten track you should consider (although Samui isn't really about the retail shopping experience is it)
1. Lamai Night Plaza located in the centre of Lamai town, diagonally opposite McDonald's and leading to a bar beer square. At first glance, Lamai Night Plaza seems like Knockoff Paradise but after a stroll up and down the lines of stands it becomes plain that there are also local goods on sale here from lots of pirated goods to copied clothes to trashy 'Swiss' army knives to the usual displays of flip-flops. It's a fun place to get your shopping in.

Attractions

You are on holiday. You cannot spend all day doing nothing, relaxing, drinking and reading trash books and recharging your batteries.. Get up! go see something! from mummified monks to maniacal monkeys, go and have a look, send the postcards, buy the trinkets, ...now that's a proper holiday!
Wat Khunaram is the last residence of Koh Samui’s Mummified Monk. It is an unusual sight; a unique insight into Buddhist and Thai culture. The monk Luong Pordaeng died in 1973 in a seated meditative position and ever since his body has been on display in an upright glass case at the temple. Aside from the Mummified Monk, Wat Khunaram is a fairly typical Buddhist temple, where local people come to make merit and pray daily. Amulets and other Buddhist artefacts may be bought, and visitors are welcome to join or observe the daily rituals Wat Khunaram is on Route 4169 (the ring road) between Na Muang waterfalls and Hua Thanon, 13 kilometres south-east of Nathon Pier and about six kilometres west of Lamai Beach.

Lamai Viewpoint is a selection of three natural attractions and an exciting ride, all in one well-developed location. Found just off the main Koh Samui ring road, close to the access road for Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks, it offers impressive views and great photo opportunities within easy reach of Lamai Beach. The multi-lingual staff offer you a choice of two packages. For 100 baht, you can see the Valentine Stone, Siva Tara Waterfall and Lamai Viewpoint itself. For 800 baht, you get all that plus a zip line ride across the nearby valley, giving you an exciting and unique view across Lamai. The park also has a restaurant by the entrance and a bar at the viewpoint.

Thai Boxing is the national sport in Thailand, and as in most villages in the country, Lamai hosts Thai boxing schools as well as an original Thai Boxing Stadium. Slightly less popular than Chaweng’s Petchbuncha Boxing Stadium (pictured) which is the heart of Samui’s Muay Thai world, Lamai Boxing Stadium has some great fights every Saturday from 21:00 onwards. The originality of Lamai Boxing Stadium comes from the fact that lady fights are organised here for the great pleasure of visitors: the ladies who fight usually work at the beer bars set all around the ring. For those who would like to be initiated to the ancestral art of Thai boxing, the most popular place available in the area is Lamai Muay Thai Camp located in the southern area of Lamai, near Lamai Buri Resort. Other Thai boxing camps based in Lamai are Wech Pinyo Muay Thai Gym (on Samui Ring Road, near Lamai Temple) and Jun Muay Thai (off Samui Ring Road on the soi leading to Montra Hotel)
