Sightseeing

The history of Kongsberg is very special, it is known as "the silvertown". The adventure started in 1623 when two shepherd children, Helga and Jakob, found silver when taking care of the animals. That was the start of over 300 years of mining, and the reason why the town is here today. Today you can take the train into the mines, or just walk in the landscape known as "gruveåsen". An amazing experience! Open during summertime. Read more / see pictures: https://norsk-bergverksmuseum.no/en/
