In the Sile River Park there are the waters of the river ready to be sailed by kayak! If you love admiring the quiet landscapes while you are rowing, this is the experience for you. The kayaks and the equipment are made available by a travel agency of Casale sul Sile; in addition all the kayaks are SIT ON TOP (anti-tipping) so suitable for all age groups and families. With the kayak you can go up the current and reach the beautiful landscape of Casier and its picturesque river in about an hour. Half an hour away you will have another unique glimpse, the “burci“ Cemetery in Silea, a suggestive river bend where you can see the remains of ancient boats, the burci. From here you can return to the starting point following the river stream. If you feel more adventurous, we suggest you match two types of excursions on the Sile, bike+kayak, to enjoy all the river landscapes of the Sile. The route lasts 1h30m /2h and includes a refreshment point in a typical restaurant in Silea. At the kayak delivery point you will receive the bike, so that you can go back along beautiful pedestrian routes.

The golf course is the heart of a natural enviroment of about 60 hectares, it's 5900 meters long and there are 18 holes. The first nine holes, designed by John Harris, extend among the centuries-old plants of the park of the eighteenth-century Villa Condulmer, the other 9 holes, built 10 years later, develop longitudinally. In all the 18 holes has been sown the famous "Bermuda Grass", able to absorb the rainwater like no other turf. The greens are fast and well defended, the golf course is flat course and finally the water come into play on the middle of the path. The Arsenale of Venice is an ancient complex of shipyards that represents a very large part of the city; It was the heart of the Venetian naval industry strarting from the 12th century and is connected to the most flourishing period of the Serenissima. The complex is the only example of a shipyard and weapons factory that has always maintained the same nature and function, for 7 centuries, even after the decline of the Republic of Venice. The North Arsenal is normally open to the public from Monday to Friday, from 10.00 to 17.00. The opening to the public concerns the public areas and the ground floor of the "Tesa 105". Other "Tesa" and the "Porta Nuova" are only open to the public at specific events. During the opening months of the Biennial Art and Architecture the accessibility to the Northern Arsenal extends to seven days a week and is available a boat connecting with the South Arsenal (Garden of Virgins).
The "Casa dei Tre Oci" is a twentieth-century building related to many famous names. It was designed between 1912 and 1913 by the Emilian painter Mario De Maria, who made it his new Venetian residence. He wanted to commemorate his beloved daughter Silvia, who had died a few years before: the three windows of the facade represent the three surviving members of the family of De Maria (Mario himself, his wife Emilia Voight and his son, Astolfo) while the bifora above them symbolizes the little Silvia. In this palace, after the death of De Maria, stayed and lived characters connected to the world of art, like the architect Renzo Piano. In 1970 Enrico Maria Salerno set here some scenes of the film Anonymous Venetian. Today the "Casa" is owned by Polymnia Venezia srl, a company that organizes cultural events related to 20th century art; inside are still preserved the original furnishings and many photographic and artistic materials related to the events of De Maria and the house. In one of its floors there are ogival windows with 3 huge "eyes", through which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Giudecca Canal. Hours: daily 10-19 (closed on Tuesday). At the end of this visit we recommend not to miss a walk on the Island of Giudecca and a visit to the Church of the "Redentore", built on the project of Andrea Palladio.

Yes! The "ghetto" word, widespread in all languages, was born right here, from the Venetian word “geto”. In ancient times, in the early Middle Ages, in this part of the city there was an ancient foundry (a “geto” in Venetian) that was used for the "bombarde", the small cannons of Venetian ships. In 1516, for political reasons, the Republic of the Serenissima established by law that all Jews should live here; the population came mostly from Central and Eastern Europe. It was precisely because of their pronunciation that the Venetian term “geto”, was crippled in “gheto”, originating the word we use today all over the world. In the ghetto, set between the two oldest Venetian synagogues, there is also the Jewish Museum: a small but very rich museum, which was founded in 1954 by the Venetian Jewish Community. The museum can be visited at a cost of €8 and is divided into two thematic areas: the first dedicated to the Jewish holiday, the second tells the story of the Jewish ghetto and the persecution of Jews, from the origins to the concentration camps of the Second World War. By adding a few euros to the price of the ticket it is also possible to visit some of the ghetto synagogues with a guide. Inside the ghetto I recommend a stop at the Gam Gam restaurant that offers typical dishes of Jewish culture.

The bookcase "Acqua Alta" was born in 2004 from the idea of Luigi Frizzo, from Vicenza but Venetian of adoption, who can tell Venice in a unique and authentic way. The city could be enclosed in this microcosm made up of books, strange furnishings, cats and of course high water. Yes, you understand very well. To protect the books from the high water, there are no shelves, but gondolas, canoes, boats and tubs. There is not even a digital catalogue to find the book you want easier, but you can still rely on the kind Luigi who probably knows by heart the location of many books.

Scala Contarini del Bovolo, a part of "Palazzo Contarini", is located in a hidden corner of Venice, outside the tourist itineraries, inside a small courtyard, near Campo Manin. It is said that Pietro Contarini had built this staircase because he wanted to reach his bedroom on horseback. On April 2, 1859, Wilhelm Tempel discovered comet C/1859 G1 with his telescope from the tower, and on October 19, 1859, the Pleiades' Nebula. Orson Welles shot some scenes of his Othello (1952) at the Palazzo Contarini; in another famous film with Marcello Mastroianni the protagonists spend a night with two girls here. At the beginning of 19th century Palazzo Contarini became the hotel "Il Maltese". Now it is "Corte (court) Contarini del Bovolo".

The gondola serenade: a unique way to experience the magic of Venice. Discovering Venice and its magic slipping through the canals surrounded by the beautiful buildings that overlook it, to the sound of music, is certainly the best way to experience the charm of the city. Booking a serenade in gondola is the perfect choice to capture the beauty of Venice from an exceptional point of view: the water that is the most characteristic element. The gondola and the sounds of traditional songs will transport you to the past, when it was the only means to move between the canals, used by Venetian nobles to reach any place in the city. A real gondolier will explain everything you see, making you better understand the atmosphere of those times. Tour features: Departure from Santa Maria del Giglio quay, near Piazza San Marco. Each gondola can carry up to 6 people; you can add more gondolas. A motor boat with musicians will spread the typical songs. Duration: approximately 35 minutes. Season: from April to October. If you are interested in this experience ask your hosts, Katia and Luciano.
