The only restaurant on the island, 50m from the villa, open daily apart from tuesdays. Open evenings only in the summer. Good food, great service, lovely terrazza. You can order large take-away casseroles for your own dinners, makes life easy and the price is good.

Apart from being a great restaurant, with a very "simpatico" host & staff, they have the important distinction of having a large jetty that is lit at might, so you can boat over the 10m necessary from the island directly to your dinner table. Be careful of the boats moored by the Circolo Vela on your return! ;)

If you want to visit Pella, on the western side of the lake not far from the Island, this quaint location is well worth a visit for its ice-cream and cakes.

Take a drive up to the highest peak in the vicinity, 17km around 30 minutes, and enjoy the spectacular 360° view. During the winter you can always SKI on the slopes. Not Zermatt, but fun and nearby.

The ultimate luxury, contact the WATER-SKIING club based here and get them to pick you up from the boathouse on the island and tour the lake practising water-skiing or wake-boarding. Fantastic fun.

Take the boat and moor at a public dock near Pella and HIKE up to the famous Sanctuary, 6km, around an hour, or drive round the lake visiting the town of Omegna.

If possible please participate in Sunday Mass at 11am, the nun's singing is particularly moving. Whether or not you like this sort of music it is unique and transcending, given their talent and the antique context of the small Basilica, something not to be missed. The same can be said of some of the gory centuries old graffiti decorating the church columns, pagans speared and roasted over a grill.

We have a trolley you can use or else use one of theirs (you need a €2 returnable coin to get one) and then return it after unloading. They have a fresh meat stand and frozen fish. If you want fresh fish go to Gozzano or order from Orta Market.

They do a specialised taxi service to and from the major airports of Milan Linate and Malpensa. If you're just going to relax on the Island it's much cheaper and easier than hiring a car. They also do night club runs. They speak English.
