Food Scene

Bohemian, full, friendly and great music. The food is consistently good quality, great coffee and reasonably priced. The staff know most people by name. Great place to sit outside in summer.

It's a bit of a walk (or hire a bike) but worth it. Everything is baked in house. Owned by a school friend of mine it has the character of the old neighbourhood. This is NOT for yuppies. Truly local.

Quite famous for the beautiful waitresses, it's also a fabulous spot for morning breakfast. I would say the good points are mainly the location, outdoor seating and people-watching.

Fresh, local produce. It supports small healthy farmers at a time when big agribusiness is polluting our bodies and the world. And its great fun - you get to meet lots of the local characters.

Everything Else

For boating on the Albert Park Lake, nothing beats the Albert Park Yacht Club. Like all other wonderful things in this neighbourhood, the Club is a short walk from Emerald Cottage.
