Great pub with lovely food, eco friendly, run by the same crew as Blas Burgerworks (again has won lots of foodie awards). Well worth the drive or bus up to Halsetown, Sunday lunch is amazing - book up or you won't get in!

Great little theatre with kids performing all the shows! A great family evening out in St Ives. We have also seen them perform at the Minnack theatre, which was spectacular with the backdrop of the cliffs and ocean!

The Minnack Theatre is set into the rocks and puts on productions on a stage which is in a spectacular position, with the backdrop of the cliffs and ocean! Worth visiting in the day just for the stunning views and to see the theatre and the history behind the build. If you can catch a show, even better!

Entertainment & Activities

This is a lovely little zoo, wonderful to take the kids, a lovely day out for the little ones, even if it rains it has an indoor activity/'play barn' which gets a bit noisy but the kids seem to love it. One point though - Whilst the zoo cafe is reasonable/ok (very basic, pasties etc.), we really wouldn't recommend the cafe in the 'play barn' area - the usual poor quality frozen & fried food - burgers, chicken nuggets & chips with everything, so just take your own picnic and eat in the park area. But otherwise a great day out for little ones.

A great place to take the kids if its raining all day and you've run out of things to keep them amused (more family games rather than arcade games). You can play skittles/bowling and all sorts of other games here, plus they do decent/value basic food (Sunday roast lunch etc.).

Parks & Nature

A wonderful beach, just 500yds from Dolphins Holiday Cottage. Surfing, sandcastles, 2 beach cafes & beach shop, toilets, Life guards on duty during summer. Overlooked by the Tate Gallery. Beautiful views of the Island & chapel (you can have weddings/blessings there!), great for families and surf dudes alike! A mini-bus will take you back up the hill in summer if you don't want to walk.

This is a great little beach in St Ives for little ones, a bit more sheltered than Porthmeor (not as many waves), with a beach cafe, toilets & little beach shop. A short walk around The Island from Porthmeor Beach. Don't forget to look for the horseshoe embedded in the slipway - there is a legend attached to this (the legend says you might see the ghost of the white horse who owned it on a misty night!), go on Shanty BaBa's ghost walk to find out!

There are numerous walks along the coast path in and around St Ives. For a long walk take the SWCP to Zennor, don't forget to see the mermaid in the church and a good pub for refreshments. Or take the little St Ives branch line train to Carbis Bay for wonderful views, and then walk back to St Ives.

A beautiful tiny harbour, the furthest point west in England (next stop USA!). Park in the National Trust car park and take a walk around the harbour & monument. Fantastic views a tiny pebble beach, if you have the time and energy (you need to scrabble down the rocks) you can walk around the coast path and find the natural swimming pool in the rocks!

Sightseeing

A very interesting and animated guided tour around St Ives, with an emphasis on local legends and ghost stories. Take the earlier tour for younger kids and the later tour for older kids & adults (although both are great for just adults too). Really fun and well presented by the local history buff who also helps to run the St Ives Museum.

A real tin mine, just as it was when in working order, a wonderful piece of social history, absolutely fascinating. You can tour the whole of the mine buildings, have a go at chopping up rocks (good for wearing the kids out!) and even go into a part of the actual mine (not compulsory!). There are lots of things to do for young and old alike, plus a great cafe with good home-cooked meals.

Beautiful small harbour, little shops, crafts, good pub with meals. At Christmas time go and see the spectacular display of lights in the harbour. There is also a 'procession of lights' where a parade takes place through the streets in December just before Christmas, celebrating the famous legend of the Mousehole Cat. Parking is busy, so get there early or park on the road and walk into town.
