At Damn The Weather, you can have a glass of natural wine and a hot bowl of pasta with a date. But you can also have a beer and a burger and a paper cone full of fries cooked in chicken fat all by yourself. Or drink a cocktail and share some oysters with your parents. The overall versatility of this spot makes it one of our favorite places to drink in Pioneer Square. Plus, the name is a solid conversation starter.

Attractions in and around the city

Our recommendations for where to go and what to do during your visit in Seattle. We've curated a selection of our favorite museums, markets, parks, and other attractions to help you discover the best our beautiful city has to offer - enjoy!
Named one of the 50 best farmers markets in the country, the Ballard Farmers Market is worth a visit if you are able to drive about 20 minutes north of downtown Seattle to this trendy waterfront neighborhood. The market takes place year-round on Sundays, and there are seemingly endless stalls of local vendors selling everything from fresh seasonal flowers and produce, meats, cheese, eggs, and bread to artisanal specialty foods and beverages, jewelry, housewares, art, handmade soaps, hot food vendors, etc. - if you can think of it, it's probably sold here :) The market spans two full blocks in the center of Ballard, so there are also plenty of other shops, cafes, and restaurants to keep you busy once you're done with the market.

One of my favorite parks in the city - only a 20-minute drive from Pioneer Square, but you'll feel like your miles away from the city once you're there. Epic views and vistas, great walking trails, and fantastic beach walk with potential to see tons of wildlife (seals, otters, bald eagles, and if you're especially lucky, whales). Discovery Park is a 534-acre park on the shores of Puget Sound in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. It is the city's largest public park and contains 11.81 miles of walking trails. United Indians of All Tribes' Daybreak Star Cultural Center is within the park's boundaries

If you're planning to visit the Space Needle (we know it's THE quintessential tourist trap in the city but, really, the 360 degree views are pretty incredible on a clear day and worth braving the lines for), then a stop at the Chihuly Museum is a must. Dale Chihuly is known for his amazing manipulation of glass and the technique that has turned his art into a household name. His art can be seen throughout the city, but this museum showcases some of the best displays and is worth the price of admission.

In 1914, Smith Tower became the first skyscraper in Seattle and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. For more than one hundred years, it has remained a cultural icon of the city, offering breathtaking, panoramic views and spectacular architectural beauty. Today, it features a unique visitor experience including a ground-floor gathering place with gifts, souvenirs, and treats; historical exhibits telling tales through time; and an Observatory with an open-air observation deck, 360-degree views of Seattle and beyond, and a speakeasy-style bar where you can enjoy a locally-inspired menu of shareable plates and classic cocktails.

The two grocery stores within walking distance which offer all the staples you'll need to whip up a meal in the loft.
The closest thing we have to a "grocery" store within walking distance of our building. You'll find most things you'd need to prepare a meal at home: a small but decent selection of fresh produce, dry goods, breads, eggs, dairy, meats, snacks, prepared foods, beverages, local handmade objects and housewares, and fresh coffee. Day trips

Places within a couple hours of the city that we think are worth dedicating a whole day/half day exploring while you're in town.
Bainbridge Island is an island west of Seattle that is entirely surrounded by salt water and known for its outstanding natural beauty, rustic character, small-town charm, and close location to Seattle. A quick ferry ride from Pier 52 (a 15-minute walk from The Lucknow) takes you to the island in no time. We recommend walking on to avoid potential long car lines on the weekends or busy travel times. Walk-on passengers are advised to be at the pier with enough time to beat lines at the ticket counters, but 15 minutes before scheduled departure should be plenty of time. There is plenty to do, see, and eat (!) within walking distance of the ferry terminal once you reach the island. Visit https://www.bainbridgeisland.com/ for more info.
