Food Scene
Great spot for aperitivo (Italian happy hour) or a luxurious dinner. And because they are located on the Arno river they have a stunning view of the Ponte Vecchio and the river! Ask for Fabiano at the bar when you go :)

This place is the real deal! There is not even a sign outside you keep your eyes peeled or you might miss it!
Local couple baking their own delicious bread, florentine schiacciata, and pastries. Go for lunch and make your own sandwich and make sure to get it on the schiacciata!
Great for a quick pastry in the morning or a panino at lunch!

Sightseeing
Forte Belvedere is one of the lesser visited sites in Florence but I don't know why! The view is better than Piazzale Michelangelo and there is usually an artist's work displayed throughout the fort. Not to miss and a more off-the-beaten-path spot

The Bargello is another less visited spot in Florence but it is just minutes from your doorstep and is well worth a visit. Houses famous works by Michelangelo, Donatello, and more. And it is an interesting place for a museum as it is a former prison!

Great bar that used to be an old wood working shop. There are wood carvings all over and there is even an old wood working bench turned dining table.
Great spot for a coffee or crepe during the day and aperitivo, people watching, and live music at night!

This area is full of quality leather vendors at great prices! There are stalls all over the streets and you can bargain with the vendors for everything from bags, jackets and belts, to scarves and jewelry.
