The Biblioteca Palafoxiana owes its name and foundation to Juan de Palafox y Mendoza, bishop of Puebla. He was a lover of books, and is quoted as having said, He who succeeds without books is in an inconsolable darkness, on a mountain without company, on a path without a crosier, in darkness without a guide.
The Biblioteca Palafoxiana is a library in Puebla City's historic centre, in the Mexican state of Puebla. Founded in 1646, it is recognized by the UNESCO for being the first and oldest public library in the Americas, It has more than 45,000 books and manuscripts, ranging from the 15th to the 20th century. In 2005, it was listed on UNESCO's Memory of the World Register.

The collection contains jars, figures, steles, altars, sculptures and utensils, from the Teotihuacan, Zapotec, Huasteca, Totonac, Maya, Olmec, Chichimeca, Mixtec and Aztec civilizations.

Lo que cautiva del complejo del Monasterio de Santa Rosa sin duda es su monumental cocina de tres techos abovedados, que según guías del museo, más que un par de centenares de azulejos de talavera le revisten, haciendo de ella una joya arquitectónica de la época, que no sólo capta la atención por su suntuosidad, sino porque se dice que ésta, la cocina del Ex Convento de Santa Rosa ,es la que vio nacer al famosísimo mole poblano.

The International Baroque Museum in Puebla has been designed by the famous Japanese Architect Toyo Ito. The Museum showcases the best of international baroque pieces from Brazil, Cuba, China, Spain, France, United States, Guatemala, Peru, Portugal and 21 museums besides Mexican foundations.
The two-story building host permanent exhibition halls and has areas dedicated to science, nature and scientific experimentation. The program includes an auditorium, a terrace and an outdoor patio. Its permanent galleries feature: Teatro Mundi (Mundi Theatre), Angelópolis, Sentimiento barroco (Baroque feeling), Pintura y escultura (Painting and sculpture), Letras barrocas, (Baroque lyrics), Deleitar y conmover (Delight and move), Artificios diluidos (Diluted Artifices) and Barroco contemporáneo (Contemporary Baroque), which offer a comprehensive view of the different art manifestations from its origins to the present day.

It is one of the most prominent examples of the New Spanish Baroque and one of the greatest artistic-religious achievements in Mexico. It is a chapel full of symbolisms, where each element represents something related to the Catholicism and Dominican Order beliefs. It is located on pedestrian avenue 5 de Mayo number 407. The building is part of the Historic Center of Puebla City, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987.
